Beautiful white sand, clear water, plenty of beach area to sunbathe and play, and - most of all - swimming! This "beach" specifically forbids swimming, and it is located next to a power plant. You can see the smoke billowing from the electric generator towers, and the water looks hazardous. Yet, people still swim.

There is more to this park then meets the eyes, hidden paths, beaches, and rope swings. This park truly has it all just don't be afraid to go off the beaten path.
This is a great hike for the whole family. You can do a short hike to Phelps Lake or a much longer hike around the whole lake. Put lunch in your backpack and head off through a beautiful wooded trail along parts of a trickling stream. Make sure you take bear spray with you. I have seen bears on more than one occasion.
