西班牙國家足球隊 （西班牙語： Selección de fútbol de España ，英語： Spain national football team ），是 西班牙 最高層級的國家足球代表隊，由 西班牙皇家足球協會 組隊和管理，代表西班牙參與國際賽事。 雖然西班牙是三届歐洲盃冠軍和2010世界盃冠軍，但在奪得 2008年歐洲國家盃 之前，長時期無法在國際賽上取得顯赫的戰績，唯有個別球員能夠達到世界頂級水平，但整體實力並不算突出。 此前西班牙具代表性的榮譽僅有 1964年歐洲國家盃 ，其次是1992年巴塞隆納奧運會足球賽冠軍；而在 世界盃 以往最佳成績僅為 1950年世界盃 的殿軍。
本屆世界杯是自 2002年韩日世界杯 以来，第二次在 亚洲 举办的世界杯。 國際足協 於2010年12月2日對本屆及 2018年的賽事 一併選出主辦國，申辦2022年賽事主辦權的國家包括 美國 、 韓國 、 日本 、 澳大利亞 及 卡塔尔 。 最終卡塔爾申办成功，成為繼日本和韓國後，第三個主辦世界杯足球賽的亞洲國家，也是首個主辦的 伊斯蘭國家 ，另外打破瑞士紀錄成為史上面積最小的举办國。 同時，卡塔爾亦是 二戰 後，首個從未曾晉身世界杯決賽周的主辦國（前两支是1930年的 乌拉圭 、1934年的 意大利 ），亦是本屆世界杯唯一一支首次晉身世界杯決賽圈的球隊。 決賽 于卡塔爾的 卢赛尔体育场 舉行，由 阿根廷隊 對陣衛冕冠軍 法國隊 。
