2023年11月1日 · 培育資訊科技人才. 最後更新 2023年11月01日. 返回. 職業訓練局（VTC）宣布成立香港資訊科技學院（HKIIT），為VTC旗下第14間機構成員。 學院將為中學離校生、在職人士、行業從業員等提供資訊科技及相關科技課程，矢志成為區內卓越的資訊科技（IT）教育機構。 HKIIT將全方位培育具備專業技能的IT專才，以提升香港在資訊科技領域的競爭優勢。 學院預計首屆學生將於2024／25學年入學，應對行業對數碼技能的急切需求。
除高科技人員外,主要行業的職業專才/技術人員是推動經濟發展的重要一環。 惟本港中學畢業生的人口減少,致使行業的人手均嚴重短缺,勞動力不足是未來必然遇到的挑戰。 有見及此,行政長官2023年《施政報告》中提出的「職專畢業生留港計劃」(VPAS),以應對經濟轉型和科技發展下的迫切人力需求。 該計劃將會試行兩年,容許2024/25學年及2025/26學年來港修讀政府指定VTC全日制高級文憑課程的非本地生(包括內地及其他國家/地區的學生)畢業後,在符合相關條件下留港全職工作,投身與課程相關且人力需求殷切的五個特定行業,包括航空,運輸及物流、海事服務、創新及科技、機電工程,以及建築,土木工程及建設環境。
