Dosage/Direction for Use. Adult 1-2 g once a day or in equally divided doses bid, depending on type & severity of infection. Total daily dose should not exceed 4 g. Surgical prophylaxis 1 g IV ½-2 hr pre-op. Gonorrhea 250 mg IM as single dose. Childn Skin & skin structure infection 50-75 mg/kg/day, total daily dose should not exceed 2 g.
