Very large memorial square with the entrance to the Forbidden City to the North and Mao's tomb to the South. The Beijing National Museum is to the East and is much more interesting than the square itself. As long as the line isn't too long you can file past Mao's body in his mausoleum but there isn't much to see. Read more.

Linked to Gubeikou in the east and Juyongguan in the west,the section of the Great Wall is the military hub defensing of the capitalsince ancient times.
