2023年6月1日 · CFD simulation is well-accepted as an important tool in safety science, where fires and explosions are of serious concern. It provides an efficient, reliable, and economical path for fire and explosion research, and thus, it is considered as an essential research and engineering tool.
Field modeling of the fire dynamics is composed mainly of two components: the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methodology and the fire model. CFD represents the core of the field model, which provides the basic transport mechanisms for mass, momentum, and energy (including heat transfer due to conduction convection and radiation).
CFD modeling has a useful, and sometimes critical, role in developing safe and robust fire engineering solutions where the control of smoke and heat generated by fire forms part of the fire safety strategy.

SMARTFIRE is an advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) fire simulation environment developed by the Fire Safety Engineering Group (FSEG) at the University of Greenwich.
A brief review on the updated use of CFD in building fire studies will be presented in this paper. Several key points to note in the simulations will be discussed. On the physics behind, key issues are turbulence models, combustion process with intermediate chemistry and thermal radiation.
