I see the ‘Move Homepod to “B” and I select it. my iPhone makes an audible sound to signify that I made the choice by touch. Nothing happens… as in nothing.

If you don’t see it, close the home app, then try again. Long Press the HomePods icon, scroll up and tap the gear icon, Restart HomePod.
