   2024年4月10日 · 電影起首便是父親從喜靈洲戒毒所出獄的大海。 香港被海包圍，「大海」在香港有很多隱喻。 父親從湖南偷渡來港，從畫面由右至左前進，他面向畫面左方，到後來第三個十年，子缺（袁澧琳飾）坐船往喜靈洲探望再因吸毒而入獄的父親，畫面是船往右方駛，她面向右方，預示她因參與新界東北示威即將入獄的命運，亦隱喻了三個十年在變，監獄收容的人都在變。 1997年，子圓（許可兒飾）算是與父親相處時間最多，跟隨父親最早從湖南來港；跟母親（周琳飾）都說湖南話；父親偷士多啤梨朱古力給她，這些事都影響年幼的子圓。 直到她上學後，小學以粵語為主，她的湖南話已不是溝通語言；她也像父親一樣盜竊，偷同學手錶被母親打罵……此時對她而言，父親已是她想擺脫的對象。 反觀幼年的子缺（彭頌晴飾）沒有這類遭遇，對父親沒有很大厭惡。
