2 years ago. HK ATMs do not charge you for withdrawals. Your bank may charge you, and those charges may depend on which network you use in Hong Kong, your relationship with your bank, how much you withdraw, etc. Ask your bank for details.
- You asked specifically about a "foreign debit card" so a cash advance fee should not apply; that's for credit cards. Shouldn't matter which ATM you...
- Exchange rates are not set by the HK bank. The rate is set by the clearing house (like Visa). Your bank may add some charge over the Visa exchange...
- Make sure you have a *debit* card. It should have either the Plus or Cirrus logo on it. Then just use the appropriate machine with Plus/Cirrus once...
- Your card will say "debit" and work if it has the Mastercard or Visa logo. Forget. Plus or Cirrus in HK.

BTW, I don't know about your credit card, but my credit card company considers cash withdrawal as "cash advance", meaning they charge interest as soon as I withdraw the cash.

ATM's in Hong Kong are EVERYWHERE. (I'm almost surprised there isn't one in the jetway that leads you off the plane.) Available at HKIA, and in town literally by the hundreds. As stated, it's a good idea to check with your local bank about charges and fees. This might be in addition to HK fees as well.

14 years ago. Anytime you have a financial transactions there will be fee, some obvious some hidden. I think that using your ATM is still the wisest choice. Just do not withdraw small amounts. I deal with the Royal Bank of Canada and with my package I pay no fee when taking money from foreign ATMs.
