I would visit Akihabara on 2nd Jan. You can expect a little discount about 100 Yen per shopping. Kamakura of New Year is crowded than usual.

But need to carry the new luggage by hand and going on the metro. I am considering getting the LOJEL CUBO FIT which is quite big. Any tips greatly appreciated.

As the earlier poster answered, your “port of entry” will be the airport (or sea port) you use to “enter Japan,” so it will be (for example if you fly) Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Chubu airport, etc. Where you “come through” before entering Japan is irrelevant. by AK.
