This small gilt bronze statue represents a slender and baby-faced Kannon wearing a crown decorated with the statuette of a seated Nyorai. The statue is holding a sacred treasure in the right hand and the tip of divine robes with the left hand.

  6. 解説. 鳥羽天皇の頃に成立したと考えられている『本願寺本三十六人家集』は柿本人麿など三十六人の歌人の歌集を当時の能書家二十人によって寄合書きされたものである。 料紙は多種多彩で、当時のあらゆる装飾料紙を用いた豪華なものである。 唐紙や染紙に下絵装飾や金銀の切箔 (きりはく)、裂箔、砂子 (すなご)を施したもの、あるいは料紙の破り継ぎ、重ね継ぎにした料紙など複雑な技巧を駆使した独自の華麗な料紙はほかにるいを見ない。 かつて本願寺が大坂の石山にあった頃、後奈良天皇より本願寺の証如上人に『三十六人家集』が下賜されたことに因んで、その断簡は石山切と命名された。 この断簡もその内の一葉で「貫之集・下」の断簡である。
