If you're taking the Shinkansen from Shin Osaka to Shin Yokohama on August 4th, there is absolutely no need to book in advance, especially if you're willing to go Green.Just go to any JR station after you arrive in Japan and purchase a ticket.

I use this when traveling in case I need to call the local hotel or car rental company, in Japan or any other countries.

I brought kids there from 2-1/2 through 18 and they always had a great time. They have a kitchen with 2 burner stove. Microwave, full sized fridge. It worked well for snacks, drinks, fruit, etc.
