Both are attractive. The guided ground walkway route may also be easier to find information on photo spots for the day.

I'm hoping to visit Himeji castle, Kōko-en Garden & Engyo-ji temple. My initial route was to visit Engyo-ji temple first, since there's a combo ticket of ropeway & bus from the bus terminal.

June is the rainy season so even you go to that area you might not be able to see it at all. Even when it is not rainy the haze can block the view. It really depends on your luck.
