6 天前 · Mishima is next best option to visit both by car. For less time spent on travelling by public transports better stay in Kawaguchi-ko for former and Mishima or elsewhere for latter. 2. Re: Base to explore five lakes and izu. If you're relying on public transportation, you need two bases, Kawaguchiko and Atami.

Last year we walked the Hongu Loop - part of the Kumano Kodo walk. as we were looking for accommodation with private facilities (bathroom + toilet) of which there aren't many in that area - we discovered a wonderful new guest house.

From Sendai as base also visit Yamadera and the Matsushima Bay as separate day trips. Consider also Hiraizumi if interested.

Many Japanese will have 3 days off from the 12th to 14th October. You would be better to pay attention it when you make your itinerary. Edited: 9:24 pm, May 15, 2024.
