2024年5月4日 · 國際足球協會世界盃 （英語： FIFA World Cup ），又稱 世界盃足球賽 ，常簡稱 世界盃 （英語： World Cup ），是項 男子國家足球隊 之間的國際性比賽，由世界足壇最高管理機構 國際足球協會 （FIFA）每4年舉辦1次，與 奧運會 交替進行。 世界盃亦為世界最具影響力的 國際 綜合 體育賽事 ，自 1998年法國世界盃 起電視轉播觀眾人數達到40億人次，超過 奧運會 成為全球觀眾人數最多的體育盛會 [1] [2] 。 1930年 為世界盃的首屆比賽，冠軍是 烏拉圭隊 ，1942年、1946年因為 第二次世界大戰 而停辦。 世界盃分成 外圍賽 、決賽週2個部份。 外圍賽部分會在決賽週展開的前3年舉行。
本屆世界盃是自 2002年韓日世界盃 以來，第二次在 亞洲 舉辦的世界盃。 國際足協 於2010年12月2日對本屆及 2018年的賽事 一併選出主辦國，申辦2022年賽事主辦權的國家包括 美國 、 韓國 、 日本 、 澳洲 及 卡塔爾 。 最終卡塔爾申辦成功，成為繼日本和韓國後，第三個主辦世界盃足球賽的亞洲國家，也是首個主辦的 伊斯蘭國家 ，另外打破瑞士紀錄成為史上面積最小的舉辦國。 同時，卡塔爾亦是 二戰 後，首個從未曾晉身世界盃決賽周的主辦國（前兩支是1930年的 烏拉圭 、1934年的 意大利 ），亦是本屆世界盃唯一一支首次晉身世界盃決賽週的球隊。 決賽 於卡塔爾的 路薩爾運動場 舉行，由 阿根廷隊 對陣衛冕冠軍 法國隊 。
