子午線の通る天文台。日本標準時をつかさどる天文台で、今は天文科学館といいます。全国にちゃちなプラネタリウが広がるなかで、カールツアイス製の古い投影機はしっかり活躍しています。
福島県で最大級の天文台で、反射望遠鏡を備えてあります。公開天文台と、プラネタリウムがあって、子供も大人も圧倒されて驚くほどの迫力でした。昼間は特殊なフィルターをつけて、太陽の黒点や、プロミネンスなどを観察することが出来るんです！
