  3. The house is a National Historic Landmark and it is a nice spot to go to. There is no fee to enter but still an interesting place to learn about one of America’s great authors. The house is not adorned with time period pieces but they do provide a video about the life and times of Edgar Allen Poe which is nice.

  7. As a tourist, this isn’t the best place to go for the library aspect. It’s more of a local treasure. Come to see the bunker and you won’t be disappointed. But if you just want to see the big, showy attractions instead of quiet historical sites, then this isn’t the place to go in, just one to walk past and admire.

  8. Not patently unsafe. The home's location (tucked in the middle of an urban housing project) definitely takes you off the beaten path and it's understandable why a tourist might be hesitant to visit when there's so much else to see in the city in well-traveled tourist sections of the city.
