OP - Get a better VPN, I'm using Google daily, works great (returns search results quickly) for searches in either English or Chinese, and have always liked it better than Bing. Mike, just tried Bing and it too is working just fine, though since I have my VPN on, it's the US version and not the China one. Report inappropriate content.

I have used it to drive in big cities and remote areas and it never failed me. But you need a VPN. Otherwise you have Apple maps or maps.me. Report inappropriate content.

I will be going to Guangzhou soon and I rely heavily on Google - Google Mail, Google Translate and internet search (since I speak very little Mandarin and can't read Mandarin) I was informed that I need to get VPN to access Google.

I don't know speed and I never use VPN, but I never have internet or wifi speed problem in Guangzhou. 9. Re: use of skype by a chinese national. Obviously your “conversational partner” doesn’t want to use Skype, and you don’t want to use WeChat, both are using silly fake excuses.
