2018年9月18日 · 消費者委員會測試了市面上12款空氣淨化機，發現樣本去除污染物的速度極為懸殊。 除香煙煙霧、麈埃和花粉速度，可相差約2倍；而且部分聲稱適用面積較大的樣本，其除污染物的速度，反不及聲稱適用面積較小的樣本。 至於除甲醛的速度，最多相差更達26倍。 測試結果反映，產品的聲稱適用面積，未必能幫助消費者評估產品的實際淨化表現，消委會促請廠商標註產品的潔淨空氣量（Clean Air Delivery Rate, CADR），以及所採用的測試標準，方便消費者參考及選購。 測試的12款空氣淨化機，其中5款的聲稱最大適用面積較大，介乎48至60平方米（約517至646平方呎）；另外5款的聲稱最大適用面積，介乎32至41平方米（約344至441平方呎）。

Results from a product test of 10 air cleaners conducted by the Consumer Council showed that the air cleaning performance varied greatly among the tested models. The total expenditure for a prolonged period of usage also varies significantly depending on the filter’s retail price and frequency of replacement.
