Epilogue: We just came back from our trip. We managed to find my wife's ancestral village of: 台山 潮境墟 新亨村. For the interest of those who may be making a similar journey like us in the future, trying to find the ancestral village in the Taishan region. The village 新亨村 does come up on a Baidu Map.

MYKI cap is $10.60 and if you need a card it costs $6.00 which you must load with credit. Some regional servces may not be accessible by MYKI and paper tickets required. Cheers.
