We were in Shanghai's airport poised to fly to Hong Kong. Except Signal 8 Typhoon closed all airports etc. We had already paid fro 3 days of HK hotels and flights home (US) form HK.

We missed an international connection because our 1st flight was cancelled. We had to pay out of pocket almost $2,000 to replace the flight we missed.
