Get a sense of the singular geography of the region by driving 10 minutes north past Bombo Beach to the Bombo Headland. This is an internationally renowned location and heritage-listed spot because of its flat-sided columns. It’s also a stunning place to watch the waves crash into the quarry between the pillars.
Located just a 10-minute drive outside of the town, this is a great afternoon excursion for panoramic views. There are multiple lookout points that take in the surrounding landscape and the ocean. It’s also well worth the hike to build up an appetite before returning to town and trying one of the local restaurants.
This national preserve is about an hour’s drive from Kiama along some winding country roads. The park is especially known for its waterfalls and the boardwalk through the rainforest. Remember to bring lunch to take a break at one of the picnic areas after hiking the trails.
