Read up on them before you go. Road from Antsiranana to the entrance gate is approximately 40 km’s. I would say that 95% of the road is rough, dirt, narrow and riddled with potholes large and small. The drive does give you a good insight into how the local people live.

We had an interesting experience driving to/from Lanquin to Semuc Champey as the one lane road is a combination of major pot holes, dirt, gravel, cobble stones, cement, etc. Parking at the entrance of the park costs 10Q and nationals only pay 25Q to enter.
