But I do know from reading and personal experience that epoxy is more susceptible to breaking from shock. I don't like the fact that the epoxy broke at the glue joint.

  4. 2017年1月15日 · I would use Doug's approach. With the wood shown in the pic you're going to get some bleed and discolouration no matter what method you use and whether the epoxy is tinted or not. As Jim mentioned it soaks into wood and its because of this its used to stabilize wood that is in a state of decay.

In other words, don't turn the heat on in the shop a half hour before making the pour then leave it on continuing to warm the piece as you try and get the epoxy to harden. That'll drive air out of the wood.

We all know what happens then. to prevent this attack of the swelling wood fibers, I would suggest you laminate with contact Cement similare to laminating Formica.
