Prevailing VPN profiles for different types of users have been consolidated and simplified.
Effective from 4 January 2021, a new VPN service ‘Cloud Express’ has been made available to all Mainland-based students for smooth connection to LEARN@PolyU. As the carrier-based secure VPN service will be retired at the end of January 2021, students based in Mainland cities are encouraged to switch to ‘Cloud Express’ as soon as possible.
To facilitate the transition, both ‘Cloud Express II’ and the existing Cloud Express VPN will be running in parallel from now to 14 December 2022. Existing users of Cloud Express can switch to use ‘Cloud Express II’, the new VPN service, by adding a new gateway IP address in the GlobalProtect VPN client software.
Effective from 4 January 2021, a new VPN service ‘Cloud Express’ will replace the existing carrier-based secure VPN service for all Mainland-based students. The current carrier-based secure VPN service will be retired on 31 January 2021.
To strengthen the security for remote access to PolyU internal applications and data outside campus, a new VPN service will be made available commencing early April for all staff. The new VPN software will be tied in with two-factor authentication process.

2021年5月28日 · As communicated in the ITS Notice dated 12 April, a new Global Protect VPN service will replace the existing Pulse Secure VPN for remote access to PolyU internal applications and data. The Pulse Secure VPN service will be phased out after 28 May 2021.
If you are using the VPN service and have your office desktop enabled for remote access outside campus, please follow the steps below to connect to your office desktop. Install the PolyU VPN software in your home desktop;

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides extra security before logging into an online service. When accessing an MFA-protected service, staff will be prompted to enter NetID and NetPassword as the first authentication and as a second step, reconfirm staff’s identity by using a verification device, like a phone or a tablet.
Install PolyU VPN software "GlobalProtect" on your home desktop machine. Details are available at service webpage . Open “GlobalProtect” and enter “staffvpn.polyu.edu.hk” for the portal address
