Wondering if that’s sufficient or should I stay the night to have a nicer feel of what the town is like. We’re a family of 2 adults and 3 children and we don’t intend to have onsen baths. Purely exploring the town and probably go up the rope way.

Having already been to more southern parts of Japan before, I opted to do Nikko and Sendai (as a jumping off place more than as a destination in its own right) in addition to Tokyo for this trip with my older teen daughter.

We would like to do some hiking while we are there - likely a multi-day walk/hike like the Nakasendo Way or Kumano Kodo Trail.

If Miso is OK, there is a shop of Tadokoro Shoten on the 2nd floor of AEON Mall Narita. It is a chain store, but I like the taste of Miso Ramen of the shop most. There is an another Tadokoro Shoten in Narita city.
