1 天前 · 原有的九廣鐵路南端終點站位於 尖沙咀 ，但該車站使用逾半世紀後，未能滿足日益增加的運載需要，加上車站附近已有一定的發展，當時的英屬香港政府須另覓土地以興建新的鐵路終點站。 最終政府決定在 海底隧道 旁的 填海 地上，斥資約1.5億港元興建一座新車站 [7] ，也就是現在的紅磡站，同時在車站旁興建 紅磡貨場 。 車站於1975年5月5日由 英女王 伊利沙白二世 揭幕，並於同年11月30日啟用，而正式名稱為 九龍車站 ，但坊間普遍以「紅磡火車站」稱之。 在新九龍車站啟用當日， 尖沙咀 至 何文田 的一段路軌亦停用並拆卸，而尖沙咀的舊九龍車站亦於1978年拆卸，但仍保留 尖沙咀鐘樓 作為法定古蹟。 而在1990年代，九鐵為了與機場鐵路的「 九龍站 」區分而正式將車站更名為「紅磡站」 [8] 。
