We arrive at Haneda on a Friday evening at 5:15pm and were thinking of starting with Kyoto. We're thinking we'll stay the night in Tokyo and leave the next morning, Saturday, on the Shinkansen.

Based on my research, many recommended a day trip is sufficient. I would like to know if it will be too "boring" if we opt to stay 1N in Otaru?
