6 天前 · Atami might be a good choice overall if you can spare a couple of nights. You can also visit Hakone as a day trip. Both Okuhida and Shibu Onsen will be less crowded If you are going to see the Snow Monekys, then spending a night at Shibu Onsen is a good choice. Okuhida is probably the one offering the most natural setting.

You all have been very helpful as I build my trip plans, so I'm back with more questions :) My plans in Kanazawa are to explore the castle and gardens, to visit the samari district, the geisha districts, and to do some silly tourist art/craftwork.

Day 3: Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go to Takayama. Day 4: Takayama. Day 5: Takayama to Gero Onsen. Day 6: Gero Onsen to Osaka. Day 7: Osaka. Day 8: Flight back.
