16 小時前 · 概述. 現今紅磡站的建立，屬 九廣鐵路（英段） [註 2] 現代化工程的一個重要部分，該工程主要包括全線鋪設 雙軌 以及列車電氣化，兩項工程的起點均由紅磡站開始。 原有的九廣鐵路南端終點站位於 尖沙咀 ，但該車站使用逾半世紀後，未能滿足日益增加的運載需要，加上車站附近已有一定的發展，當時的英屬香港政府須另覓土地以興建新的鐵路終點站。 最終政府決定在 海底隧道 旁的 填海 地上，斥資約1.5億港元興建一座新車站 [7] ，也就是現在的紅磡站，同時在車站旁興建 紅磡貨場 。 車站於1975年5月5日由 英女王 伊利沙白二世 揭幕，並於同年11月30日啟用，而正式名稱為 九龍車站 ，但坊間普遍以「紅磡火車站」稱之。
