2023年2月11日 · Djibouti, 11 February 2023 – Italian Rear Admiral Francesco Saladino assumes command of the 46th rotation as Force Commander of the European Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) Operation ATALANTA. He takes command of Task Force 465 from Portuguese Commodore Rogério Paulo Figueira Martins de Brito who was in command since 03 December 2023.
EU NAVFOR is now the force in charge of co-ordinating counter piracy forces and vessels through the area for the next 3 months. The Gulf of Aden is a known hotspot for pirate attacks and the co-ordination of vessels through this area is of utmost importance in the continued fight against piracy in the region.
