Éric Dousson holds an engineering degree from the French Naval Academy (1993) and a diploma in Advanced Military Studies from French War College (2006).

On 13 September 2017, the Dutch Landing Platform Dock (LPD) HNLMS Rotterdam joined the EU Naval Force operation ATALANTA, aimed to protect vulnerable vessels in the Western Indian Ocean and to deter and disrupt acts of piracy. HNLMS Rotterdam set sail from her homeport Den Helder on 27 August 17.

2023年12月1日 · Rota, 1 December 2023 – The European Union Naval Force Operation (EUNAVFOR) ATALANTA has successfully tackled the alleged piracy-related incident involving the Iranian-flagged fishing boat “AL-MERAJ 1” off the coast of Somalia. The EUNAVFOR action has included the transfer of the last known position of the fishing boat to the Somali police forces.
On 16 June on board EUNAVFOR French flag ship Marne, Force Commander Rear Admiral Dupuis and his staff hosted the new Dutch Commander of Task Force 508 (NATO – operation Ocean Shield), commodore Ben Bekkering.
