一 自由主義的雙重困境. 自由主義傳入中國已有百年,是無數知識人的價值寄託所在。 人們 堅信,自由民主制是中國政治現代 化的出路。 事實上,自由主義的理 念在兩岸三地的社會運動中一直起 着重要作用。 舉例說,1919年北京的 五四運動、1960年前後台灣的《自由中國》雜誌知識群、1989年席捲全中國的民主運動、1990年台灣的「野百合學運」、2008年以劉曉波為代表的《零八憲章》運動,以至2014年香港的「雨傘運動」,都是以自由、民主、人權為基本訴求,並且在社會產生巨大迴響。 可以說,在過去百年中國現代史進程中,自由主義的基本價值,經過一代又一代人的努力,早已獲得廣泛認同,成為推動社會轉型的重要動力1。
