Geocities網存空間的關閉，反映了愈來愈少普通網民編寫個人網頁，而討論區、網誌、共筆型網站（例如維基百科）及社交網站（例如Facebook）的誕生，令很多網民更容易分享個人資訊，而不用再花心機編寫個人網頁。
浪費資源，與網絡時代脫節
有部分網民指出，GeoCities只支援HTML格式，加上容量太少（只有15MB的網存空間），以及Web 2.0愈來愈普及，以GeoCities的網存標準，經已不合時宜，因而浪費網絡資源。

On the Browse Screen, click on the Upload button to go to the Upload Screen. There is one column on the left to upload files, and there can also be a right column to upload-and-unzip archives. Click on the Browse button to specify which file on your computer you want to upload or upload-and-unzip to the server.
