Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. Child: 1-16 years Recommended dose: Initially, 0.25 mg/kg 12 hourly via inj over at least 2 minutes or via infusion over 15 minutes, may increase up to 40 mg daily. Oral. Duodenal ulcer. Adult: Recommended dose: 40 mg once daily at bedtime for 4-8 weeks. Alternatively, 20 mg bid.
Transdermal. Menopausal hormone replacement therapy. Adult: Each patch delivers 0.025-0.1 mg estradiol per 24 hours: Apply once or twice weekly on a clean, dry area of skin of the lower abdomen or upper buttock. As gel containing 0.5 or 1 mg estradiol per single-dose container: Apply 0.5-1.5 mg daily on the right or left lower trunk of thigh.
Indications and Dosage. Intravenous. Susceptible Gram-negative infections, Susceptible Gram-positive infections, Susceptible infections. Adult: 200 mg on the 1st day given in 1 or 2 infusions, followed by 100-200 mg daily depending on the severity of the infection. Doses are given via infusion over 1-4 hours (depending on the dose).
Adult: Initially, 800 mg followed by 400 mg 8 hourly usually for about 7 days. Child: <8 weeks 15 mg/kg once daily or divided into 7.5 mg/kg 12 hourly; >8 weeks to 12 years 20-30 mg/kg as a single dose or divided into 7.5 mg/kg 8 hourly for 7 days. Daily dose may be increased to 40 mg/kg depending on the severity of the infection.
Indications and Dosage. Topical/Cutaneous. Skin fungal infections. Adult: Skin mycoses caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds, and other fungi (e.g. tinea pedis, tinea manuum, tinea corporis, tinea cruris): As 1% cream: Apply thinly onto the affected area (s) once daily, preferably at night. Treatment duration: 2-4 weeks.
Adult: As promethazine hydrochloride supp: 25 mg at bedtime, or 12.5 mg before meals and at bedtime if necessary. Usual range: 6.25-12.5 mg tid. Dosage must be adjusted to the lowest effective dose to relieve symptoms. Adult: As promethazine hydrochloride supp: 25-50 mg for night-time, pre-surgical or obstetric sedation.
