Margaret Chan Fung Fu-chun, OBE, JP, FRCP [3] (born 21 August 1947) is a Chinese-Canadian [1] physician, who served as the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) delegating the People's Republic of China [4] from 2006 to 2017.
Margaret Chan (born 1947, Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong-born Chinese civil servant who served as director general (2007–17) of the World Health Organization (WHO). Chan attended Northcote College of Education in Hong Kong before moving to Canada, where she earned B.A. (1973) and M.D. (1977) degrees from the University of Western Ontario .
