  1. 2021年4月2日 · Apr 2, 2021. #4. Without knowing which school it was I am only guessing, but I imagine that the speaker is using the term "a posh school" in the way his parents might have done, for whom any boarding school would be "posh" (there are some free state-run boarding schools in Britain, but they are rare). After saying "a posh school", he then says ...

  2. 2013年10月15日 · Plus précisément, par exemple dans une relation de séduction, quand un homme dit à une femme "you're posh" à propos de son apparence physique. Cet homme fait beaucoup d'humour et est taquin, donc je suppose qu'on peut y mettre de l'ironie et ce serait donc plutôt tu es snob ( un défaut, une critique), ou une forme d'admiration et ce ...

  3. 2006年11月21日 · 1. something being "posh" touches on social pre-conceptions regarding a suppossedly "superior" linguistic norm (please note my use of quotation marks). 2. in historical terms, such a "superior" linguistic form would necessarily be the one spoken by certain sections of "superior" (i.e. powerful, rich, "elite") groups.

  4. 2009年6月8日 · Jun 9, 2009. #6. Hope you enjoyed it! Although the film is quite old, some people still use lines from it in everyday conversations. For example, if someone (not too young) is telling me something I don't really understand or something strange, I can answer "c'est cela, oui" and they will know exactly what I mean and there will be no need to ...

  5. 2022年7月18日 · Spanish (Spain) Jul 18, 2022. #1. Buenas. Estaba traduciendo cuando me encontré con esta jerga inglesa, "posho", y sinceramente no sé de qué manera traducirlo. La frase es: (Alguien tras empujar a otra persona) "Too easy, posho." ¿Alguien sabría decirme la palabra más apropiada en castellano para traducirla?

  6. 2012年2月2日 · Bonjour, Je veux dire, "Pish posh, that's ridiculous!" Est-ce qu'il y a un idiome français, ou une phrase similaire que je peux utiliser pour ma histoire? Merci en avance, keesalemon

  7. 2006年9月30日 · Australian Australia. Sep 30, 2006. #7. It seems to me to be a smooth flowing sentence. It is a construction that is heard quite often. I find nothing posh or snobbish or envious about it at all. It sounds nothing but complimentary. In the cited example most and very are interchangeable.

  8. 2011年3月13日 · English, Trinidad and Tobago. Mar 13, 2011. #1. Hi, Came across this phrase a couple times in a text I'm translating and "posh woman" doesn't seem to cut it. Here are the sentences where it appears: "Hubo quien le ofreció trabajar en los invernaderos, y una señora de postín se acercó un día a brindarle un trabajo por horas; «parece buena ...

  9. 2005年12月15日 · And concerning "posh" accents the situation is the reverse compared to England, where a middle-class Southerner will sound "posh" to a Northerner. In Italy standard Italian spoken with a "Northern" accent will sound posh to a Southerner. On the other hand

  10. 2014年8月30日 · The only real difference is that elegant is a more formal word than classy - which is pretty informal. Swanky, ritzy and posh are seldom used in reference to clothes. I would never describe any clothing that way. But all three mean pretty much the same thing to me, which is "luxurious and (usually) elegant." Last edited: Sep 25, 2014.
