銀杏樹的起源與豆知識. https://pixta.jp/photo/70002843. 在日本街道以及公園裡都可以看到的銀杏樹，原來既存於遠在2.7億年前二疊紀的樹種，但因其演進速度緩慢，反倒成為二疊紀僅存古老的裸子植物，故此被認定為是「活化石」。 而銀杏的成長需要較為溫暖的氣候，當時因地球的氣候變異，包含北美、歐洲、亞洲各地的銀杏屬種漸次滅絕，生長地逐漸前進到中國南部，爾後，俟氣候穩定，經引種才開始遍布於其他各地，日本的銀杏樹就是經由朝鮮半島而帶入日本。 另外，因為銀杏的成長速度較為緩慢，有爺爺小時候植樹，等到孫子都生出來了，爺孫們剛好可以一起欣賞成樹後的銀杏，共享銀杏果，所以銀杏樹又可稱為「公孫樹」。
