小學收生可分為兩大途徑：一是學校自行收生、進行面試並錄取學生；或是通過教育局的「小一入學統籌辦法」收生。而「小一入學統籌辦法」會分為第一階段的「自行分配學位」，及第二階段的「統一派位」。 想了解更多有關統一派位程序，及各區熱門校網排名，可參考全港校網排名2020。
官津小學的收生第一階段，就是「自行分配學位」，家長可向全港任何一間官津小學，遞交入學申請表，不設校網限制。不過留意只可申請一間小學，否則會被取消資格。 每間官津小學最多可分配 50% 的學位於此階段，即大約有一半適齡學童會在「自行分配學位」階段獲小學取錄。 「自行分配學位」階段一般每年9 月中開始，家長需自行到心儀小學遞交申請表。學校會於11 月左右公佈取錄名單，獲取錄學生需要在指定日期內，到小學辦理註冊手續，才能保留學位。留意一旦註冊確認學位，就不會再經統一派位分配學位，因此家長申請前，一定要審慎考慮選校決定。
