Beautiful dell at the end of a slightly uphill short walk. It’s pretty during the daytime, but magical after dark. Be quiet and keep the torch (except for the walk up pointed at the ground by your feet) flash OFF. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re not planning on seeing glow worms elsewhere.

Glow worms within the town boundary are rare. Mar 2015 • Family. The Glow Worm Dell is only 50 to 100 metres off the main road at the northern edge of Hokitika township. After dark there are lots of glow worms, and while it is not as spectacular as some of the major glow worm caves, nevertheless it is really something well worth having a look at.

Minnehaha Walk. 1.2 km easy walking loop track 20 min return. This delightful short walk follows a small stream through the lush rainforest, and loops back to the start point via Te Weheka Walkway/Cycleway. Glow worms may be seen in the forest after dark - take a torch to find your way.
