If you intend to travel on long distance trains, you will need to fix and itinerary and book ahead. Also, finalize your plans so you can book hotels ASAP.

Most ATMs in Japan don't accept foreign cards, but ATMs operated by Seven Bank (7-11 stores) and JP Bank (post office) accept foreign cards. Expect to pay a tiny fee of about 200 yen per transaction with these ATMs. They will give you a fair exchange rate.

Though Mt Tsurumi @1300m is nearby, the hike from the top ropeway station takes about 20 min. My visit in late May 2019.

2024年1月3日 · Hi I just noticed that Nikka Distillery last tour is at 3pm as stated in their website. We have below places to covered on Day 4 of our trip (3rd July). Do you think we will be able to arrive there by 3pm? We will be driving. Day 4: Deoarting from Lake Toya Hotel→Milk Kobo→ Lunch at Shakotan Peninsula→Lunch Shokudo Ushio →Cape Kamui→Nikka Distillery→check in Otaru Hotel
