2019年8月18日 · Times Car Rental reviews wanted. I’m planning on driving myself, my wife, and 5 year old son from Osaka to Shimane in November. I’ll be staying at a mates place for a couple of nights, then to Kyoto via rural Okayama where we’ll be staying on a farm. This is just some background so people don’t just recommend public transport.
2019年11月9日 · Things I learnt: Get a smallish car as many side streets are absolutely tiny. Google maps easily got us around Japan even though we understand little to no Japanese. Toll costs add up as we spent all up over 25,000 yen for the whole trip. Everyone speeds! Trucks, buses, cars all going easily 20km/h over the speed limit all the time.
2022年3月1日 · Price wise, Times Car Share is 220yen/15mins. There is a maximum charge for 6 hours - it's 4,290yen - so at the above rate you hit that around 4h45mins (essentially, there's no difference price wise between 4h45mins and 6 hours). After six hours, the pricing structure changes, and it's based more on kms driven than time.
2023年6月23日 · I've done long-distance, multi-day rentals with Times Car Share. Was no problem and quite convenient. Most of the time. Car sharing is cheaper than proper car rentals. Times car share is a really good option but depending where you live and the dates you need it, it's sometimes hard to schedule a car for multiple days.
Studying downloaded basic Japanese rules of the road and traffic signs helped. Cars rented for about $90/day, including the maximum rental agency insurance. While fuel is expensive, I drove slow in a rental with great gas milage (my 2nd rental was a hybrid), so fuel costs weren't significant.
2021年9月6日 · AFAIK there are no car sharing services in Tokyo with an option to add baby seat. The best alternative for your said usage frequency, is rent a car with optional baby seat - which is what we are doing now. I swear by Nippon Rent a Car for their quality vehicles and great service, having tried Times & Orix. Hope this helps!

As the title says - we rented a car in Japan and loved every minute of it. To top it off, tolls, gas and parking were much cheaper than we expected. We decided to rent a car in Odawara (on May 13, 2024), keep it for a week and return it in Osaka. It was pricey to return the car so far away, but in our opinion, worth every penny.
2023年8月8日 · The website is like your typical Japanese website but if you get used to it the rest is smooth. For a short (3-4 hours) rent, a car sharing service will be cheaper than traditional rental agencies. When borrowing a car for a few days, Rakuten Travel has a page where you can compare prices between different agencies.
