    You do want to remove the bandage covering your new tattoo after 24 hours, the Mayo Clinic states. Do not, however, take it off before that. It’s an open wound, dude! Keep that thing covered up to keep it safe.

    You’re going to want to clean you tattoo with plain soap and water, gently. You’re not doing yourself any favor though if you do it all with dirty hands, though. Wash your hands well before cleaning out your tattoo.

    This stuff sticks like crazy and will make an infected mess. Your knowledgeable tattoo artist should cover your new ink with a proper bandage. Leave this on for the first 24 hours and resist the urge to change it to gauze.

    This might go without saying, but someone out there needs to be reminded. Your dog is so cute and so loving but keep that mouth away, momma- like yours, it’s full of bacteria.

    Once you get a tattoo, your skin is sensitive to the sun, due to the healing process. So, let it heal. Keep out of the rays until it’s fully set and all will be good. Then and only then should you hit the beach to show off your art.

    Love that fleece sweater? Just like the gauze mentioned above, it’ll stick to your wound like no tomorrow. Go for clothing that isn’t fluffy, fuzzy or furry to cover up.

    This last one is gross but needed. It’s is oh-so-tempting to pick away at that encrusted blood on your arm or leg, in the hopes that it will make things heal faster and look ‘normal’ sooner, but just don’t. Leave it be.
