A hunting scene characterized by a very developed landscape castle of Hartenfels in Torgau (Saxony). Among those taking part are the Emperor Charles V and John Frederick the Magnanimous, Elector of Saxony (at the lower left), together with the latters wife, Sibylla of Cleves (on the right, dressed in red).

Room 055B. Among the hunters depicted here are Ferdinand I, King of the Romans, on the left in the foreground, and the Elector of Saxony in the centre. On the other side of the river and holding a crossbow is the Electors wife Sibylla of Cleves.
Emperor Nero accused his teacher, Seneca, of treason and ordered his execution. Scorning imperial power, the philosopher decided to take his own life. First he cut his veins and then he took poison. In the end, though, it was the vapors from a brazier that put an end to his suffering.
Alsloot, Denis van. Mechelen, 1570 - Brussels, 1628. A Flemish painter, he was active at least starting in 1593, when documentary evidence confirms his participation in the decoration of the Garnier family monument in the Church of Our Blessed Lady of the Sablon in Brussels.
