For Asia Miles, miles expire 36 months after they are earned, but at least you can redeem for things other than travel (at a premium "price"). In AAdvantage, at least if you have some activities within 18 months, all miles expiration will be extended to 18 months out from the last activity.

The worst part of this situation is that you won't have any chance to recover as AM will NOT accept any appeal case to this. Reply.

But if you want to use a star alliance member, you can swap your miles into Aeroplan which is Air Canada's porgramme. But get this, your 400,000 very hard earned asiamiles points when converted over to aeroplan will earn you only 80,000 aeroplan miles!

If you want to transfer miles then the service fee of $100 per 10,000 miles applies ( $50 per 5,000 miles thereafter).
2011年4月13日 · Programs: AA PLT; UA Gold. Posts: 5,378. You don't need to transfer the miles to AA. Just call Cathay and give them your AAdvantage number and your reservation number. Tell them you want AAdvantage miles for the flight (you cannot get both AAdvantage miles and Asia Miles for the same trip, of course).
