橫濱華人和中華街. 最後說一說橫濱的華人，以及日本最大規模的中華街。 上文提到了橫濱開港的歷史，各國商人爭相前來貿易，自然，嗅覺敏銳的中國人也不例外。 中國自唐朝開始就與日本有商貿往來，由於都用漢字，所以交流起來比西洋人方便很多，而廣東一帶很早就開始與西洋人有了接觸，所以很多人還會一些英語，這樣橫濱開港之後，華人翻譯者就變得炙手可熱了。 加上其他商人、工人前來橫濱討生活，有的就順勢定居在此，世世代代延續了下來。 與現在在日「新華人」的東北、福建和上海三大出身地不同，這一時期的「老華人」多來自廣東一帶。 到了明治16年，這裏的華人規模達到了兩千多人，漸漸形成了華人社區，稱為「唐人町」。 後來因為甲午戰爭爆發，這裏的華人經歷了一段苦難的日子。 而後辛亥革命開始，孫文在這裏設立了華人學校。
