渣打銀行財富管理投資策略部主管劉家豪分析：「永續發展價值觀透過退休基金、慈善機構及捐助基金等眾多投資人團體影響企業經營策略，而非純粹追尋回報，他們比以往更加在意對社會的影響力及責任感，傾向於選擇那些不會對社會造成負面影響、甚至能帶來正面效果的投資方式，例如，全球最大主權基金「挪威財富主權基金」設有道德委員會，只要企業違反ESG原則，就不會出現在它的投資名單上，美國加州、日本等養老金機構也採取同樣的作法。 」換句話說，ESG永續發展不只是企業經營策略錦上添花的行動，更可能是企業未來發展存亡的關鍵因素。 劉家豪進一步表示：「風險管理則是另一項ESG的亮點，2000年初期，ESG永續投資與績效的討論逐漸萌芽。
