2022年1月27日 · In anticipation of the day when the staff of the Mori Art Museum and the K11 Art Foundation can finally interact face-to-face, we’ve decided to start an exchange program with the aim of sharing our mutual knowledge online. This program comprises artists, curators, learning curators and art curators selected from both sides.
“Afro-Mingei” is the manifestation of a new creative ideology wherein Theaster Gates imagines the artistic possibilities of combining Black aesthetics and Japanese craft philosophies to envision hybrid-culture futures.

She relocated to Beijing from 1999, and has been based in Tokyo and Seoul since 2020.

Guernica in Sand is a recreation of Picasso' s Guernica in the form of sand painting by Lee Mingwei. On Sunday, November 16, 2014, the artist and his assistants conducted a performance sweeping the surface to transform the image (to its current state) after members of the audience walked on the painting.
