2021年1月23日起，港鐵推出二維碼付費乘車服務，乘客可使用手機應用程式「MTR Mobile」綁定其AlipayHK帳戶，或直接使用AlipayHK內的「易乘碼」，可於港鐵掃描二維碼出入閘。

•一字站名（例如金鐘站Admiralty）：首三個字母（ADM）
•二字站名（例如旺角站Mong Kok）：第一字首兩字母、第二字首字母（MOK）
•三字或以上站名（例如黃大仙站Wong Tai Sin及尖東站East Tsim Sha Tsui）：第一、二及三字各首字母（WTS╱ETS）
•如果按照原有取號方式所取的代號已被其它車站使用，就需要避號，通常採用以下方式：
•二字站名（例如太和站Tai Wo）：第一字首字母、第二字首兩字母（TWO）[註 1]
•三字站名（例如天水圍站Tin Shui Wai）：第一字首兩字母、第二字首字母（TIS），如果也重復就使用第一字首三字母[註 2]
東鐵綫南港島綫屯馬綫觀塘綫荃灣綫港島綫很多鐵路迷，在討論區內為了避免費力輸入中文字，當提及港鐵的車站時，會輸入代碼取代。提及港鐵路綫時也有相同習慣。
例子：「我今日坐KTL由KWT~MOK」，即是說「我」由觀塘站乘搭觀塘綫至旺角站。
