From a tourist perspective, 1/1 is the day you truly need to find something to do. Therefore, check individual attraction closing days.

Re: 10 Days in Tokyo and Hong Kong - How many days in each? 5 years ago. Hong Kong just 3 days is sufficient (if Macau + 1 day). Would allocate most time to Japan as you can go around various areas, Tokyo Hakone Yokohama Enoshima Kamakura Osaka Kyoto Kobe (etc.). Would get the JR pass as well.
